Fiano Romano SOAKED IN HISTORY AND TRADITIONS
Fiano, like other towns in the area, has been inhabited since ancient times thanks to its strategic position near the Tiber river.
The area was first a meeting point for ancient pre-Roman civilisations, then came under the control of first the Etruscans and then the Romans.
The exceptional archaeological sites of 'Lucus Feroniae' and 'Villa dei Volusii' remain as evidence of this period.
From 1300 and throughout the Renaissance, Fiano came under the rule of the Orsini family, to whom we owe the construction of the imposing castle, and then passed into the hands of other noble families, like the Sforza and Ludovisi.
