The Lipu Mediterranean Habitat Centre is a protected nature reserve with a 20-hectare lagoon, located between the new Ostia harbour and the mouth of the Tiber River. It is home to a precious ecosystem consisting of numerous plant and animal species, in particular, several migratory birds.
The nature trail leads to three wooden huts for bird watching and nature photography; an open-air classroom and visitor centre host cultural, educational, awareness-raising and research initiatives, as well as many volunteer activities, including a first-aid service for wild animals.
