The seat of the Order of the Knights of Malta on the Aventine dates back to the 16th century but has been transformed several times, notably in the 18th century by Giovan Battista Piranesi.
The visit includes the church, with its elegant neoclassical lines, recently reopened after long restoration, and decorations rich in symbolism.
It continues with a number of rooms of the Building, which houses the Order's offices and residences, and concludes with the small but delightful garden from where, through the entrance door keyhole, a very special view of St. Peter's Dome can be admired.
Opening days
It can be visited from mid-September to mid-June by reservation every Friday from 9.30 to 12.30.
Extra Opening times
