Every year in Capena, on the night of August 14, time seems to stand still: an ancient tradition comes to life in the streets of the village on the occasion of the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin into Heaven.
Shortly after sunset, two groups of volunteers - the 'glueers' - depart from opposite ends of the town and carry in procession two floats containing the sacred images of the Madonna delle Grazie and the S. Salvatore.
With an exciting final race, the two groups meet and the two images find themselves facing each other.
The procession melts into a great collective embrace and a spectacular show of lights and fireworks.
After the procession, the floats are taken to the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and watched over all night.
