Religious celebration and local tradition come together in the great feast of San Marco, on April 25 in Capena.
As for other holidays, the day dedicated to San Marco is also characterized by the procession with the votive statue which, starting from the historic center, reaches the church dedicated to the Saint, just outside the town.
It is traditional that on the same day the boys and girls of Capena receive First Communion and for the occasion special sweets are prepared made with a dough similar to that of biscuits but with very particular shapes.
For children, the 'lepericchio', a sort of round basket with an egg in the center; for girls, the 'sposatelle' in the shape of a doll decorated with sugared almonds.
