St. Luke is the Patron Saint of Capena and on the 18th of October of each year, the town dresses up for the big celebration which ends with a wonderful surprise
The feast of the patron saint is not only a religious celebration, but a moment of encounter and festivity for locals and visitors.
The venerated statuette of the Saint is entrusted to a different family or group of people each year. They keep it in custody until the day of the feast when it is carried in procession through the streets of the town and greeted with affection by the community.
In the past, it was traditional to prepare home-made “maritozzi col mosto”, sweet brioches filled with fermented must from the last harvest.
Today, this speciality can be enjoyed in the town's bakeries and pastry shops.
