The Ecomuseum, split into two centres, one in Ostia Antica and one in Maccarese, reconstructs the history of the Roman coastline through an extensive documentary heritage made up of written documents, photographs, films and period objects, set up in an iconic industrial archaeology building.
The Ostia exhibition centre is in fact located right inside the dewatering pump used in the late-19th century to reclaim the area, which was once marshy, and a visit to the facility, with the accompaniment of an expert, will make it possible to discover the history of the place and of this unique collection.
